It’s Official: Sunnyvale & Mountain View Are Illegally Polluting Creeks
After years of investigations, our team discovered excessive pollution in Sunnyvale and Mountain View’s creeks.
But instead of fixing the problem, the cities decided to fight us in court.
Now, a judge has ruled that the cities committed “serious and long-running” Clean Water Act violations—over 1,200 of them—by allowing sewage to flow into local creeks.
So we’ll keep urging the cities to capture their pollution before it reaches waterways, for the benefit of both residents and the Bay!

Fighting the Shortsighted Sites Dam Project
A proposed dam and reservoir project, called Sites, would prevent large volumes of water from flowing into the Delta and Bay from the Sacramento Valley. But the Sacramento River is already dangerously over-tapped—so we’ve been working with our partners to fight back.
In response to our concerns, in a preliminary ruling, the State Water Board proposed some guardrails on the project. While much less damaging than what was originally proposed, the requirements are still too weak to prevent irreversible harm.
So we’ll keep pushing for sustainable alternatives that don’t require sacrificing the Bay’s health.

Richmond: Take Action Against a Dangerous Carbon Pipeline
Developers are proposing a dangerous carbon waste dumping scheme that would extend across the Bay Area, affecting communities and ecosystems along the way.
And contrary to the project’s greenwashed promises, the project would help refineries to keep polluting.
On April 28, the Richmond City Council will be meeting to decide whether to oppose this plan. If you live in Richmond, it’s important to urge the city council to reject the proposed project and its infrastructure.

Take Action: Keep Your Eyes on the Bay
Our hotline has always been an active source of leads on the Bay Area’s biggest pollution threats. So we just launched a new initiative to get more people to keep an eye on the Bay.
If you see or suspect pollution in the Bay, report it to our pollution hotline.
And keep an eye out for our campaign! Whether you’re on the ferry or BART, we’re getting the message out. Post your photos on social media (tagging us on Instagram, Facebook, or Bluesky)!
